Dereck Treadwell is one of Maine's finest middle-distance runners and was a finalist in the 1,500 meters at the U.S. Olympic
Trials in 1996.

"Tread" is a one-time NCAA All-American at U Maine in the 1500 in 1996. He has placed as high as 11th at the NCAA Championships. Treadwell set U Maine school records at 800, 1000, 1500, Mile, 4x400 and DMR.
He was honored as the North Atlantic Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year in 1997. Treadwell was a 14-time All-New England Team selection and was named to the ICAAAA/Eastern College Athletic Conference Team four times. On October 26, 2008, Treadwell was recognized for his outstanding collegiate career as he was inducted into the University of Maine Hall of Fame.
On the professional level, Treadwell competed and trained as a member of the NIKE Farm Team from 2001-2004. Treadwell competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials, U.S. Nationals, Penn Relays and the Mount San Antonio College Relays as a member of the team. At Old Town High School he was a two- time State Champion. He had high school bests of a State Record 1:55.4 for 800.

Since 2004 Treadwell has coached Hartwick College in New York. He has also coached at Husson College. He parlayed his running talents into a career as a world class Duathlete, qualifying for 3 World Championships in Duathlon.
