Louie Luchini's 5k and 10k accomplishments establish him as one of Maine's greatest distance runners. An amazing eleven All-American certificates at Stanford. Runner-up finishes at the High School Nationals in Cross Country, in the High School Nationals in the Two Mile, and in the NCAA 5000 meters.

Luchini has been ranked in the top ten Americans three times by Track & Field News over the 5000 and 10,000. He was an astounding eleven-time NCAA All-American at Stanford. He placed second at the NCAA Championships 5000 in 2003, losing to the kick of Ireland's Alistair Cragg in the last 200 meters. At Ellsworth High School Louie finished 2nd to future Olympian Jorge Torres at the 1998 Footlocker National Cross Country Championship. in 1999, he ran High School personal bests of 1:57 for 800, 4:17.66 for the Mile and 9:06.17 for two miles. In 2000 he set a still standing American Junior (under 20) Indoor Record in the 5000 of 14:08.37. His 28:54 10k from his freshman year at Stanford ranks as the 7th best American Junior performance in history.
